The China Township and Marine City communities are mourning the loss of David Leon Atkins II, who passed away on July 18, 2026, at the age of 41.
Born on March 2, 1985, David was the cherished son of David and Lisa Atkins. He was a proud graduate of Marysville High School’s Class of 2003 and later earned his bachelor’s degree in HVAC from Ferris, building a career marked by dedication and hard work.
David was remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the tremendous impact he had on those around him. As Coach Dave Atkins, he touched the lives of countless players, families, and community members through his involvement with Marine City Little League. His kindness, encouragement, and unwavering support made him a beloved figure both on and off the field.
In honor of Coach Dave, Marine City Little League announced that a special tribute would be held during the league’s closing ceremonies to celebrate his life and the positive influence he had on the community.
Family, friends, and neighbors have come together to support David’s loved ones during this difficult time. Voluntary donations are being accepted to help cover the cost of the luncheon following his funeral service, with all contributions going directly to his wife, Jenn Atkins. Community members are also providing meals and assistance to help ease the burden on the family.
David leaves behind his loving wife, Jenn Atkins, and their children, Josie, David III, Jess, and Joelle, who are surrounded by an outpouring of love and support from the community.
David Leon Atkins II will be deeply missed by his family, friends, teammates, players, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of compassion, mentorship, and community spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
