The motorsports community continues to mourn the loss of NASCAR star Kyle Busch, whose passing in May 2026 left family, friends, and fans heartbroken. Two months after his death, his son, Brexton Busch, was involved in a crash during Tuesday night’s Cook Out Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Brexton had recently made the racing community proud by winning his first dirt race since his father’s passing at Port City Raceway in Oklahoma. After the victory, he shared an emotional message on social media, reflecting on the difficult months following Kyle Busch’s death.
“My first win since my dad passed. I don’t like to talk about it much, but the last two months have been really tough,” Brexton wrote. “I’m missing my crew chief, my driver coach, my dad, the guy who I looked up to more than anyone. I know he would be proud of the way I ran the top to win my first Micro A-Main at Port City. We love and miss you so much, dad.”
Unfortunately, Brexton’s positive momentum was interrupted when he was involved in a hard collision with 15 laps remaining in the Cook Out Summer Shootout. His mother, Samantha Busch, later confirmed that Brexton was doing well and recovering from the incident.
“Brex ended up wrecking out after a hard hit last night but thankfully he’s all good today,” Samantha shared on her Instagram Story. “He will be back on dirt tonight. Tried to tell him to take the day off and rest, to which I got an eye roll.”
Samantha has remained steadfast in supporting Brexton and their daughter, Lennix, following Kyle Busch’s death on May 21, 2026. She previously shared that she promised her late husband she would do everything possible to help their children pursue their dreams, especially Brexton’s passion for racing.
Kyle Busch, a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, was widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers in the sport’s history. His death was attributed to complications from severe pneumonia that progressed into sepsis. He left behind a lasting legacy in NASCAR and is survived by his wife, Samantha, and their children, Brexton and Lennix.
